The ARDG is currently formed by five farming families farming seven farms throughout the North Island.
Originating in 1968, it has over 50 years breeding objectives behind it in very close liaison (on the research and development side) with Dr. Chris Morris of Ag Research.
All the farms are swapping genetics between them heavily so the only difference is the environments and farming policies of the different farms.
The ARDG farms 20,000 ewes of which 2000 are recorded with 30 sires being progeny tested and sire referenced between flocks each year, supplying approximately 600 rams each year to the industry.
